If you have problems bathing, washing or dressing, even with help from equipment, you may need extra help. This could mean a carer coming in during the day to help you get washed and dressed or prepare meals.
I want to arrange my own care
You can get help with things like cleaning, shopping, gardening and personal care through a private provider or a care agency. Pinpoint Devon can help you search for companies in your area. If you cannot access the internet, contact Care Direct on 0345 155 1007 who can search Pinpoint for you.
If you are arranging your own personal care you may want to get independent financial advice before you sign any contracts or make any decisions. Age UK have produced a guide to protecting yourself when employing carers.
I want care through social care services
If you think that you, a relative or someone you care for might need help with personal care contact Care Direct on 0345 155 1007 or email csc.caredirect@devon.gov.uk. If you are eligible for services we will work with you to create a care plan which details your needs and the best ways to meet them.
Once you have a support plan we will do a financial assessment to look at the amount you will need to pay for your services. You can then choose to have services directly and pay us for them, or have direct payments and organise your own services. With direct payments you will have more choice and control over the care you have.
