SEND ICT

There are guides to support ICT in settings in the resources section of this page. This includes, recording work and ideas, developing keyboard skills and using iPads to support learning.

After reviewing your teaching and learning, using the guides, additional support is available by booking onto an ICT Consultation.

ICT Consultations

Settings can request an ICT consultation for specialist advice on how they can enable children and young people to promote independence and alternative ways of recording.

Online sessions are designed to be flexible and responsive to need and usually last around 45 minutes.

Discussion topics may include:

  • Alternative ways of recording work to promote independence and provide opportunities to reduce adult dependence
  • Developing typing skills if writing is a barrier
  • Explore making use of Speech to text software
  • App suggestions
  • Literacy support software recommendations
  • Suggestions around equipment and peripherals such as headsets, keyboards and styluses that settings can purchase

Following the session, a report of the consultation will be completed and sent out within the working week.

To book a ICT consultation, use the following email address:

educate.specialeducationalneeds-mailbox@devon.gov.uk

The consultations normally take place monthly on a Tuesday and Thursday.

There is no cost to settings to book an ICT consultation.
