ICT skills audit


An ICT skills audit can be used to check a learner’s knowledge about the basic functions of technology, It may help them to develop independence and serve as a starting point when beginning to use technology.

(A = Aware, C = In contexts, G = Generalised skill)

1: Getting to know the computer:
I can find and use the power button to turn the device on and off.   
I can find and connect extra devices like a mouse and keyboard.   
I understand the function of the mouse / trackpad and keyboard.

2: Using a mouse / trackpad:
I can hold and move the mouse / cursor.   
I can click, double-click, right-click, and drag items with the mouse.   
I can use the scroll wheel / bar to navigate up and down on a page.

3: Using a keyboard:
I can find the numbers   
I can find the letters   
I can find the space bar   
I can find the full stop and comma keys   
I can find the backspace key   
I can find the delete key   
I can find the shift key   
I can practice typing simple words and sentences.

4.1 I can use keyboard shortcuts like:
Copy: Ctrl + C (Copies the selected text or item to the clipboard).   
Paste: Ctrl + V (Adds what was copied to wherever you want it).   
Cut: Ctrl + X (Removes the text or item and moves it to the clipboard).

Undo: Ctrl + Z (Reverses the last action or command).   
Redo: Ctrl + Y (Redoes the last action that was undone).   
Select All: Ctrl + A (Selects all the text or items in the current document or window).
