Handwriting is not always the best approach for everyone when it comes to recording work and ideas in the classroom. Perhaps it is not physically possible or it causes too much fatigue. It may be the case that the writing may not capture all of the ideas accurately.
Book Creator
Book Creator is an app and also a website (accessible using Google Chrome, Safari or Microsoft Edge browsers) that allows you to create books and can help record work and ideas using a variety of methods. It is ideal for capturing work without having to use handwriting.
The app has a small cost and the website is free to use for a basic account (paid upgrades are available).
Some possible uses:
- Taking photos of routines in the school and adding explanations/details
- Creating a social story using the camera or downloaded images
- Taking photos of work completed and adding information about what is being done using text, audio recordings or annotations
- Creating a phonics bank – a photo of the letter sound combined with a sound recording and examples of it in words
- Investigating a topic or theme by using the camera to take photos and adding details using text or audio
- Create instructions for making something / playing a game using the camera and adding text or voice recordings to explain
