Adult Social Care Involvement and Equality

Learning Disability Partnership Board (LDPB)

Aims of the board

The aim of the Devon Learning Disability Partnership Board is to work together in partnership with stakeholders to help adults who have a learning disability and their families to lead fulfilling and rewarding lives and to help people have the same opportunities as everyone else.

To make this happen, the Partnership Board will:

  • Check that local (Devon) and national plans for people who have a learning disability are being put into place across Devon.
  • Support these plans and what they aim to change as much as possible.
  • Give a view on new policy and strategy locally and nationally.
  • People who have real life experience can use the Partnership Board to tell people who make decisions where things need to be better and how things can change to make sure that best practice takes place.
  • To be active in supporting key issues that affect people’s lives – these are decided on at the beginning of each year.

Devon Learning Disability Partnership Board groups:

The Health and Social Care discussion group

This group is being set up for people to shape the delivery of Health and Social Care and enables people who use services to have a voice, to let us know what is working well, what is not working well and what needs to be improved. The group provides an opportunity for Commissioners to involve people, with current lived experience of using services, in the planning of future services.

Carers Discussion group

The Devon Learning Disability Partnership Board has always recognised the important role carers play in the lives of those they care for. The purpose of this group is for carers to share their views, experiences and ideas to influence positive change and to support each other. The Big Community Catch Up.

This group enables people to get together, speak up, have a chat and share ideas to create positive change in our communities. Click or tap here to find out more about the big community catch up and the work they have been doing

Friendship Groups

Many people with a learning disability have told us they often get lonely and find it difficult to make friends. They also said that they find it hard to find out what is going on in their communities because information is difficult to understand. Devon people first have set up virtual friendship groups to help reduce loneliness and provide the opportunity for people to make new friends and talk about things that are important to them.
