The Learning Disability Partnership Board met on June 15^th June 2026 to mark the start of national Learning Disability Week.

Part one:

There was a presentation by Shared Lives South West. Shared Lives South West is an organisation that delivers paid care and support in family home settings to people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health issues or dementia. They offer long-term placements and short breaks.

Part two:

Council officers responded to a presentation from Health and Social Care Group members on barriers people with a learning disability face when trying to independently apply for an adult social care assessment. A Task and Finish Group has been set up to explore this further.
