Aims of the board
The aim of the Learning Disability Partnership Board (LDPB) is to work together in partnership with stakeholders to help adults who have a learning disability and their families to lead fulfilling and rewarding lives and to help people have the same opportunities as everyone else.
To make this happen, the partnership board will:
- check that local (Devon) and national plans for people who have a learning disability are being put into place across Devon
- support these plans and what they aim to change as much as possible
- give a view on new policy and strategy locally and nationally
- be active in supporting key issues that affect people’s lives – these are decided on at the beginning of each year
People who have real life experience can use the partnership board to tell decision-makers where things need to be better and how things can change to make sure that best practice takes place.

Devon Learning Disability Partnership Board groups
The health and social care group
This group is being set up for people to shape the delivery of health and social care and enables people who use services to have a voice, to let us know what is working well, what is not working well and what needs to be improved.
The group provides an opportunity for commissioners to involve people, with current lived experience of using services, in the planning of future services. More information about the health and social care group.
The Devon Friendship group
Many people with a learning disability have told us they often get lonely and find it difficult to make friends. They also said that they find it hard to find out what is going on in their communities because information is difficult to understand.
Devon People First has set up virtual friendship groups to help reduce loneliness and provide the opportunity for people to make new friends and talk about things that are important to them. More information about the Devon friendship group.
