I need to talk to someone
When we first talk to you we will listen carefully and won’t assume anything. We want to find out:
- What matters to you today?
- What you can do for yourself?
- What are your interests and skills?
- Do you have family and friends locally?
- What are your concerns and what do you want to
We will ask who supports you with your life (family, friends and neighbours) and we will find out what there is in your community to help you get on with your life independently.
Jo from Exeter, who has limited mobility, explains:
“We had a really helpful conversation about what I was worried about today, and what I can do for myself. We talked about who I spend time with and the family and friends near me.”
“Then we talked about where I can go locally for help. I didn’t realise there was so much support out there. My son helped me buy some equipment online which meant I could have a bath whenever I wanted.”
