4b. Emotional and mental health    I know the difference between happy and sad I have access to books with deaf characters    I can recognise when I am Happy/Sad or feeling something different I can tell someone how I’m feeling I have met another deaf personI recognise emotions and can use appropriate language to describe how I feel I understand there are links with things that happen and how I/others feel I know there are different ways to describe deafness and have chosen how I want to be identified (deaf, HoH, difficulties listening, hearing loss etc)I can understand emotions in others and recognise triggers for these I have strategies to manage my own emotions I can express how I feel about my deafness I’m confident explaining my  deafness to othersI understand that I have a responsibility to look after my own mental health I know where to find support I have a positive sense of deaf identity for myself and others    
4c. Physical health  I take part in physical activities I allow an adult to clean my ears I take part in listening games (in preparation for health appointments)I know the difference between healthy and unhealthy. I can identify healthy/unhealthy (food/physical/mental) I know that batteries are dangerous (must not be swallowed!) I understand that there may be physical activities where additional safety consideration is needed (Swimming/Rugby)I am aware that there are ‘deaf’ sports organisations and clubs. I make healthy choices for myself I understand how my body changes in puberty I understand gender I understand what personal hygiene is I help keep my hearing equipment clean I understand how deafness may affect my physical health and safety (balance/alarms)I know there is a link between physical health and mental health I can give examples to explain this I am responsible for keeping my ears and hearing equipment clean I know about different equipment that help me access alarms to stay safeI understand that I have a responsibility to look after my own physical health I can explain how to do this I understand that using my hearing devices supports my long-term cognitive health
4d. Technology and staying safe  I know that I can search and access videos (you tube etc) about topics I am interested in, but that some access is restricted.I am aware that I can access the internet and link up with friends I understand that there are dangers associated with being online I understand that passwords should be kept secretI can connect with my family on social media – Instagram, Facebook I can explain to others how to stay safe online I know how to connect my hearing devices to the phone/laptop etc I know how to contact the emergency services I know how to connect my ALD to the board in the classroom.I understand there are different types of technology that help me to access: speech to text, VRS video relay service/ online interpreters I can explain to my teachers how to use the ALD effectively.I am a responsible user of technology. I know where to get help in the future if I need support using technology or accessing things online. I can explain to others what technology I need in order to be able to access different environments, e.g. work / college/ uni.
