Are you confident in your school’s Equality duty?
Perhaps you are a governor who strives to support ethnically diverse or other minority children within the protected characteristics.
Have you seen an increase in racism or prejudice in your school?
Not sure of the risk factors for LGBTQ+, Gender questioning and gender diverse children?
Or do you want to explore strategies to tip the scale for ethnically diverse or other minority children within the protected characteristics?
This academic year EDEAS (formerly EMTAS) has partnered with Devon schools wellbeing partnership to offer all Devon schools (excluding Plymouth and Torbay) fully funded Equality, diversity and inclusion training.
This training can be delivered to trust leaders, governors and/or school staff. There is a hybrid model for delivery of either 1hr onsite training session, or two 30mins webinars – to meet the needs of your busy diaries.
The aim of the training is to raise awareness of your legal Equality duty, protected characteristics, discrimination and racism – as well as key strategies to use in your school to help children to feel safe and included.
Schools – can expect a short ‘pub quiz’ style awareness session on legislation, protected characteristics, including vital information on gender diversity and LGBTQ+ support. Then the school will receive awareness of the different forms of discrimination and racism – as well as identifying key strategies.
Trust leaders and governors – can expect a short ‘pub quiz’ style awareness session on legislation, protected characteristics, including vital information on gender diversity and LGBTQ+ support. Then they will receive awareness of the different forms of discrimination and racism – as well as identifying key strategies. The last part of this hour long training sessions is to explore scenarios that directly link into their role.
For both training session you will be asked to complete a short survey (2 questions) before and after, so we can monitor progress and improve our delivery, following feedback.
There are currently no more spaces for this EDI training, however please register your interest for this fully funded training and EDEAS will be in touch if there are further opportunities.
(Training and method of delivery is subject to availability)
