Advice for SENDCos

In November 2024, RNIB Bookshare updated their website. When you first log in you will be prompted to change your password before you can explore the new site.

If you are new to RNIB Bookshare you will need to nominate a primary contact (usually the SENDCo) for your setting to manage your free membership of the library.

You can follow the quick steps to get started by scanning the QR code below. This will enable you to get the most from RNIB Bookshare. You can also contact your Advisory Teacher for Vision Impairment for help.

Dolphin EasyReader

Download Dolphin EasyReader onto a tablet from the app store

Create a free account with Dolphin from within the app. You will need an email address password for the person who will use the tablet – usually a child or young person, but if the child or young person doesn’t have one you can use your own.

Now select ‘RNIB Bookshare’ from the list of libraries and log in using the child or young person’s RNIB Bookshare username and password. You can now search for the title you need or find it if it’s in ‘Reading List’ or ‘History’.

EasyReader will automatically select the file format for the title you select, and will open the file in EasyReader’s accessible E-reader. You can personalise it to each child or young person’s font, colour and size reading preferences.

To make navigation easier for the child or young person, open ‘Manage Libraries’ by touching the green cross. Turn off all options other than ‘RNIB Bookshare’.
