We support schools to meet the needs of children from Traveller backgrounds (including Gypsy, Roma, Travellers of Irish Heritage, Showmen, Circus and Occupational Travellers).
EDEAS can offer support with:
- Admission into school, advice and guidance on communicating with family effectively
- Advice on individualised transition programmes for Traveller pupils from primary to secondary
- Developing inclusive approaches, fostering positive relationships and planning curriculum opportunities to value and promote Traveller culture
- Information for distant learning
- Raising awareness of Traveller cultures and history
Maintained schools can access our funded Gypsy, Roma, Traveller and Showmen clinics to discuss support and concerns. Whilst all other schools and settings can access support via our consultancy package.

Gypsy, Roma, Traveller and Showmen awareness professional development
Designed to increase awareness and develop respect and understanding of these communities, the training not only focuses on legislation, but looks at common misconceptions, stigma, stereotyping and myths around these communities to improve understanding. We also look at effective, practical approaches to working positively with these communities to promote educational outcomes.
