The electric vehicle cable channel trial has now concluded. The findings are being evaluated to help inform and put in place arrangements for future delivery.
It is anticipated that applications will be accepted under business-as-usual arrangements from early 2027.
The Devon and Torbay electric vehicle cable channel trial (EV CCT) allowed residents to apply for the free installation of a limited number of cross-pavement electric vehicle cable channels at properties in Devon and Torbay.
Cable channels are for homeowners who do not have access to off-street parking. They are cut into the footway and allow for EV charging cables from your EV home charging point to safely reach your car. This short video shows how the cable channels work.
The trial will enable Devon County Council and Torbay Council to collect information that helps establish procedures and practices for the future provision of EV cable channels.
