Safe travel


We are responsible for over 8,000 miles of road, from major principal routes to narrow country lanes. We work with district councils and emergency services to ensure that our roads are as safe as possible for all users.

We encourage all users to Share the Space and be patient and kind on all roads and paths.

How to share the road with others, being a good driver, and reminder from the Highway Code that drivers can cause the greatest harm in the event of a collision so they need to even more care and reduce the danger they pose to others. This principle applies most strongly to drivers of large goods and passenger vehicles, vans/minibuses, cars/taxis and motorcycles.
