Devon County Council’s current highway Term Maintenance Contract (TMC) is with Milestone Infrastructure Ltd. The seven-year contract began in April 2017.
The partnership, called Devon Highways, is approximately 50% of our business. The rest is delivered by specialist companies and local contractors.
Milestone Infrastructure Ltd delivers a wide range of highway services and brings additional social value to local communities. This includes:
- safety inspections to identify defects
- repair defects that have been identified by safety inspections or reported
- cyclic maintenance including gully cleaning and grass-cutting
- drainage repairs
- patching – footways and carriageways
- winter service
- out-of-hours emergency response
Devon County Council has contracts in place for other types of work. These include:
- tree safety management
- Pothole Action Fund
What we do not do
We do not have responsibility for:
- motorways and trunk roads – these are maintained by Highways England
- Torbay roads – these are maintained by Torbay Council
- Plymouth roads – these are maintained by Plymouth City Council
The following is dealt with by local or district councils:
- Rubbish bins and recycling collection.
- Off-street parking such as car parks.
- Street nameplates.
- Dog waste bins.
- Planning permission.
