General 85: Child Care Vouchers – Important Changes
Posted on 11 July 2017 by education.finance
You may have already seen the recent Schools Communications message on this subject. Jo Fellows (HROne) would like to remind all schools of the important changes to child care vouchers.
Following a recent legal case, changes have been made to Devon County Council’s Child Care Voucher Scheme for employees on maternity or other child-related leave. This policy change directly affects maintained schools and this communication explains the change – please ensure that your employees are aware of this. Academies may also wish to review their policy, if they use child care vouchers schemes and advise their employees and payroll provider accordingly.
Alongside this, the Government have introduced a new Tax Free Child Care Scheme from April 2017 which over time will replace current employer-run Child Care Voucher Salary Sacrifice Schemes, of which Devon County Council’s Child Care Voucher Scheme is one. This communication provides further information on this new Government Scheme and links to relevant information, which employees need to be made aware of.
