Mental Health Support Worker
Devon County Council
We are looking to recruit a mental health support worker based in the Ilfracombe Link centre. Working to the Recovery approach, the Link service provides informal advice and support to people who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
The role of a mental health support worker is varied and the work involves working within a centre and in the community. Working with groups and individuals the role offers support by using your listening skills, talking things over and looking at choices that can develop individuals own resources at a safe pace that help people recover from their mental health.
Knowledge of local resources aids recovery by signposting individuals to specialist services such as budgeting, benefits, accommodation, physical health and involvement in community life.
Communities is a broad job area and could see you working in a variety of roles. We employ people to help develop local businesses and social enterprises, help preserve our county’s ecology and protect residents from scams and faulty goods.
Being such a large county, we are in the position of dealing with rural, urban and coastal communities and the issues they face.
