Job title: Economic Development Officer

Area of work: Economy, Enterprise and Skills

My work with Devon County Council commenced in 2012 when I was seconded to the Council from the University of Exeter for two years to undertake an IT infrastructure project. Following this I was offered a permanent post by the County Council undertaking economic development research and analysis.

I was very pleased to accept this offer. I wanted to stay in Exeter and working for the Council has enabled me to continue working on interesting projects which make tangible differences to people’s lives. I respect the fact that the Council works effectively and innovatively to make the most of its resources and I enjoy the relationships I have built with colleagues.

I greatly enjoy living and working in Devon and during my time away from work, I like outdoor activities such as walking or sailing. I sail at Exmouth, but there are several local sailing clubs. To support a better work life balance for staff, the Council has also invested in good quality equipment to provide better reliability for those wishing or needing to work flexibly and there is a positive an open working culture.
