ROVIC Service Support Assistant
Devon County Council
The ROVIC Service (Rehabilitation Officers for Visually Impaired Children) provides habilitation (initial acquisition of skills) and rehabilitation (re-establishing skills) to children and young people with visual impairments, as well as support and liaison eye services within the ophthalmic paediatric eye clinics across Devon. This includes providing advice, information, assessment, guidance and skills training on approaches and practice to encourage, motivate and support an individual’s development in the presence of visual impairment / deafblindness / multi-sensory impairment (MSI) and/or coexisting needs.
The Service is now seeking an organised administrator with initiative and creativity for the role of Service Support Assistant.
The Service Support Assistant will support the ROVIC Service Manager and ROVIC colleagues in the day to day administration of the service.
Devon County Council:
Employs over 4,000 direct staff
Invests over 100,000 each year on major infrastructure
Has a gross budget of £1.1 billion
Like any organisation that deals with such large figures, we require a team of lawyers, accountants and human resources officers to ensure the smooth running of our service.
Being a local authority, there are also roles that one might not commonly find elsewhere. We employ people in Democratic Support to assist with the business of elected representatives and scrutiny committees, registrars to keep official records of the county’s population and a coroner and assistants to deal with inquests into individual deaths.
We are a large organisation dealing with complex matters across the county, and welcome anyone who can bring their expertise to our council.
