KS2 pupil writing collections

Standardised pupil writing collections are produced each year for LA moderator training. These materials can support teachers in making their judgements when assessing children’s work at the end of key stage 2. The accompanying commentaries are useful, providing detailed explanations of why a collection meets a particular standard and what prevents it from having met the higher standard.

2025 KS2 English writing standardisation exercise 1

These three collections formed the first moderator standardisation test of 2024/25.

These three collections were those published for the 2019/20 lead moderator standardisation tests. (Moderators were obliged to pass these, but moderation for this year did not then go ahead because of COVID-19.)

These three collections of writing were published for use as the 2019/20 pool moderators’ standardisation tests, round 1. (Statutory moderation was then cancelled for this year due to COVID-19.)
