Accident or incident procedure

This is a brief reminder of the procedure that is to be followed in the event of an accident or incident involving a Devon County Council fleet vehicle.

Please follow the below:

• If the roadworthiness of the vehicle is in any doubt contact South West Highways (SWH) immediately, using the details below.
• Particulars of Motor Accident form (form 3) must be completed and returned in full to TCS within 48 hours providing all relevant details and a description of damage, this must include the third party name, address and vehicle registration number if applicable.
• You must obtain an estimate from a vehicle body repairer within one month of the accident, details can be found below, you may use other companies other than on the list below, but please contact this office 01392 382877 to confirm.
• Transport Co-ordination Services (TCS) will process the estimate and give authorisation to the repairer.
• The repairer will then contact you direct to arrange a convenient date for repairs to be carried out.
• For users of minibuses, welfare buses and accessible cars who are entitled to a spare please contact either SWH at Haven Banks, Exeter on 01392 278200 or Barnstaple on
  01271 322150.
