UPDATED V.2 Domestic & Non Domestic SBS Calculator and Budget Notification

2022-23 SBS Calculator and Budget Notification

The 2022-23 Provisional SBS Calculator and Budget Notification Guidance Notes are now available and can be found under the heading ‘School Budget Share’.

The calculator is provisional as we are awaiting final approval of Devon’s School Budget Share submission from the ESFA.

When accessing the Calculator please download and open the file in your Excel Desktop App, this will help avoid any access issues when the file is in use.

Changes to note:

The Schools Block Funding has been updated by the DfE with the October 2021 census data which has altered the pupil numbers and underlying factors across the schools. As a result it was not possible to fund all arrangements proposed during the consultation process. In particular the changes had an impact on the Sparsity funding across our schools and to ensure that we remain within the funding envelope with support from Schools Forum it has been necessary to keep the funding factors at the 2021 rates of £45,000 for primary and £70,000 for secondary and all-through schools.

We accept that this may see some schools have a variance from that expected when looking at the indicative data from the consultation. What we have tried to ensured that Devon Schools move as close to the National Funding Formula as possible whilst remaining within the funding envelope available.

Supplementary Grant:

The Schools Supplementary Grant announced in the Autumn Spending Review 2021 will be allocated separately from the Schools Block in 2022/23, with the intention that the DfE will incorporate this into the base funding for 2023/24.

2022-23 SBS Calculator – Non domestic rates

Non domestic rates will be paid the ESFA directly to billing authorities on behalf of all maintained schools and academies from 2022 to 2023 onwards. As a result of this change rates is not included in the SBS Calculator except for prior year adjustments where there has been a change in prior years rates estimations
