What is the purpose of this guidance?
This guidance is to support the contents for OMG #58 – completing a TRA check. We are very grateful to Sue Howard, HR Operations Manager, Link Academy Trust, for her support in its creation. It aims to give further clarity in checking an employee who the school believes to be in teaching work, but is not believed to be a qualified teacher.
Step 1 – access the Portal having your password and school details to hand as would be the case for checking someone who you believe to be qualified.
Step 2 – add the details as you have from a formal ID document such as the individual’s passport.
Step 3 – in this example, Sue gave her consent to use, and share her details. As Sue is not a qualified teacher, the response shares the following information.
As you can see – the response confirms the time of the check, the results found and the name and date of birth of the individual. This confirms that Sue is not a qualified teacher, and that there is no record of her being prohibited. This should therefore be added to the individuals secure personnel file as evidence of the check being completed.
