Administration 246: Split Site Funding

Split site funding provides additional financial support to schools operating across multiple sites, based on eligibility, number of sites, and distance between them.

Eligibility Criteria

A school qualifies for split site funding if it meets the following conditions:

  • The school has at least one additional site separated from the main site by a road or railway, which must have 24-hour public vehicular access or present a significant barrier to access
  • The additional site is primarily used for educating 5- to 16-year-old pupils in mainstream education, including pupils with SEND or special units, but excluding sites used solely for sixth forms, nurseries, or special schools
  • The site must have a building owned, controlled, or maintained by the school and used for educational purposes. Ancillary buildings, swimming pools, or playing fields alone are not eligible
  • If a building is rented but the school maintains it, it may still qualify; conversely, buildings leased out full-time do not qualify

If your school is currently not receiving split site funding and you believe your school should be eligible for split site funding, please forward details to ancilla.mckenna@devon.gov.uk by no later than Wednesday 30 September 2026, thank you.
