No, you can book one slot for one individual child, or one slot to discuss the needs of a group or cohort strategically as a whole and not individually. There is not enough time to discuss more than one child.

We kindly ask you not to book multiple slots as that will prevent other settings from accessing support.

We will be monitoring the frequency of bookings by individual settings and identify those who are booking more than one slot as it may be that a whole setting SEND consultation would be more appropriate.

No. As we are now working in localities, the appropriate locality EY team will be supporting their locality consultations. If you book a different locality to your own, you will be contacted and asked to book within your own locality.

Yes, even if the question is not applicable you can either tick the ‘other’ box or write N/A.

Yes. The consultations are tightly timed sessions to clearly identify the issues and the panel to offer a solution focussed approach. These consultations have been taking place for primary schools for a very long time and those have illustrated that thirty minutes is plenty of time. The panel will end the session after that time, as other consultations are booked for after each session

We will ask you to succinctly state the reasons why you have booked a slot, and this will be followed by around twenty minutes of solution focussed advice and guidance from the panel. We will then summarise actions and the session will end. Please ensure that only the main concerns are shared during this time, and allow the panel time to advise.

Not necessarily. If you have evidence of needs, and have implemented at least half a term of an assess-plan-do-review cycle, then you should have enough to support a funding application.

If you want to discuss whether to refer to the Early Years Inclusion Service for setting support, you must book a SEND consult to discuss this before doing so.

Yes. Settings and schools are expected to access both the OAIP and OATS frameworks and toolkits prior to contacting an Early Years Quality and Inclusion Partner (EYQIP) or an Early Years Sufficiency and Welfare Advisor (EYSWA) or an Early Years Inclusion Practitioner (EYIS).

We are moving away from the model of inclusion visits for every child and empowering settings to use the both the OAIP and OATS frameworks and toolkits as part of their everyday inclusive practice. It may be appropriate for some children to receive a visit, but the expectation is for settings to make the necessary reasonable adjustments for each child.

There is an expectation that at least once cycle of assess-plan-do-review (minimum six weeks) before booking a slot. If any inclusion consultation form states that the OAIP and OATS have not been used first, the request for a slot will be cancelled.

No. Please come prepared to write your own notes for your records.

Yes, you can, and if there are other cross border issues regarding which local authority to make referrals to for example, we can discuss that in your session.

Not necessarily. We have many resources to support transition on our website. The most important thing to do if transition is your concern, is to contact the receiving school and make time to hold a meeting with them to discuss an enhanced transition, sharing with them what has been working well, barriers to learning for the child etc.
