Early years inclusion consultations

Our weekly, locality-based virtual inclusion consultations are available for any setting who need support with SEND and inclusion.

Consultations offer a solution‑focused opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns, whether relating to an individual child’s development, or to explore aspects of SEND practice and provision within your setting.

Each consultation is co‑run by a Team Lead and a Senior Inclusion Practitioner, with attendance from an Early Years Quality and Inclusion Partner (EYQIP) and an Early Years Sufficiency and Welfare Advisor (EYSWA). Together, they provide advice, support, and signposting tailored to your needs.

Settings are encouraged to book a consultation to discuss:

  • Attendance, emotional dysregulation, or anxiety concerns
  • Advice or support around SEND provision, including implementing a graduated approach, Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision (OAIP), or targeted support
  • Children who may be at risk of, or are already experiencing, a reduction in funded hours
  • Transition planning and support

Meetings are held on a weekly basis, usually on a Wednesday afternoon. Each appointment lasts up to 30 minutes. Bookings must be made within your designated locality, and we ask that settings only book one slot per week. If additional capacity is required, more slots will be released.

These consultations are for pre‑reception children only. Schools seeking support for reception‑aged children should continue to book a primary school SEND consultation slot.

If discussing a child, consent will need to be gained. EY Inclusion Consultation – parental consent form
