Permit books and paper permits are sent by 1st class post. Please allow up to 3 working days for delivery before reporting lost paper permits to us. Most applications approved before noon will be dispatched that same day.
Permits can be bought online or by post. We cannot process applications over the telephone.
Most addresses in our resident zones are entitled to two lots of visitor permits per year, but not every zone has visitor permits as part of their scheme. Please check your scheme details, days and times, as this will affect the number of digital visitor hours allowed.
Types of Visitor Permits
You can choose from:
- Two allocations of digital visitor hours, or
- Two books of 30 one-day scratch cards, or
- One of each type
The cost of visitor parking permits is currently £30.00 per book or allocation of visitor hours.
When You Can Buy Again
Visitor permit allocations are based on your purchase date: however they remain valid until they are used.
- Once you buy an allocation, you cannot buy another of the same type until the same date the following year
- You can check your previous purchases in the Payment History section of your account
If you have already registered for an account to buy permits for your address, select the home page when MiPermit opens using the link below and buy via your account. If you have not already registered at your address with MiPermit you can do so, as you buy your 1st permits.
Digital visitor hours
In areas where the permit restrictions applies at all times, there are 350 digital visitor hours allocated per block, and in areas where the restrictions apply between set days and times e.g. Mon – Fri 10am – 4pm, the allocation of digital hours is 200 hours per block.
How Digital Visitor Permits Work
Digital permits work like paying for parking using an app:
- Enter your visitor’s vehicle registration number
- Select the number of hours needed
- Confirm the booking in the MiPermit app
You can:
- Book visits on the day or in advance
- Add permits for multiple vehicles at the same time
- Extend the stay if needed
The time used will be deducted from your available hours.
Why Use Digital Visitor Hours?
Digital permits give you more flexibility than scratch cards:
- Only use the time you actually need rather than a whole day.
- Easily extend sessions if plans change
- Can have more than one visitor at a time
- Unused or unwanted visitor hours can be refunded by the account holder.
Visitor scratch card permit books
Where the zone allows visitors a book of 30 one day visitor permits these can only be used by visitors to the address to which they were issued. They are valid from the date of completion of the required information on the face of the permit until 10am the next calendar day.
More than one can be displayed if the visitor is staying for more than one day. These permits do not have an expiry date on them, so a book is valid until the last permit has been used. They are not transferrable, refundable and cannot be sold on to anyone else.
