At Devon County Council we think we’ve got the best team of digital and technology experts in the South West. We’ve got a great diversity of specialist skills, embracing areas like user-centred design, agile software development, cyber security, and cloud computing. We’re united by our mission to understand and meet the needs of users. We aim to use digital technology to make life easier for people so that Devon is the best place to live.

Our work ensures everyone gets the assistance they need. We do this by working closely with users to design simple digital experiences like applying online for a National Bus Pass. We do everything necessary to support important technology that our employees rely upon. This includes maintaining systems like CareFirst that are vital to delivering adult social care across Devon. It also includes managing partnerships with market leaders like Microsoft and ensuring their products are enabling our employees to work flexibly. Everyone in our team gets great satisfaction from the work they do.

Our Digital and Technology Service is home to everyone from recent graduates to highly skilled digital professionals with experience in both the public and private sectors. There are always opportunities to further develop skills or to help nurture the next generation of talented and ambitious people. The growth and modernisation of our Service reflect widespread change across local government, where expert communities of skilled digital practitioners are doing vital work.

We endeavour to deliver at pace and always challenge everyone to think creatively and drive improvement. We work flexibly, including currently supporting fully remote working. As an employer, we value the well-being of everyone and actively promote a healthy work/life balance. We have people that enjoy the lifestyle benefits of both living and working in Devon, and also provide the support needed for employees living elsewhere.
