Having spent many happy years holidaying in South Devon, my husband and I decided to make a lifestyle change and move to Devon in January 2017. At the time I worked for Oxfordshire County Council, where I had worked for many years as the ICT Business Services Manager. For a year I did the commute back up to Oxford by train, staying with family during the week.
I saw a post advertised at Devon County Council towards the end of 2017, applied and was delighted to be successful, taking up my new role in April 2018. I have to say I’ve never looked back! My role as ICT Business Partner Adult Care & Health allows me the opportunity to work with some highly committed and experienced colleagues, looking at how digital transformation can support adult care and health. There is every opportunity to engage with colleagues working in the NHS and other public sector organisations and the work is both challenging but highly rewarding.
Agile and flexible working is actively encouraged at Devon County Council and the council takes seriously its responsibilities to ensure staff are equipped with the knowledge of how to make the best use of the digital tools available, such as Microsoft O365. Of course, the real benefit comes when I leave work and explore all that this wonderful County has to offer.
Our lifestyle is very much more focussed around the outdoors with regular visits to sea and moor. We have moved into a village community and made some brilliant new Devonian friends and of course living where we do, there are no shortage of family and friends wanting to visit to experience a little slice of coastal life
