I started at DCC in June 2020 after graduating from my Computer Science degree at Reading University.
During my time at Reading I really missed living in Devon, so was keen to get a job back in the county. Working for DCC seemed like the ideal place to work.
I’m a software developer, so I help to develop the systems that we transform as part of the wider Digital Transformation Team. My first project was working on MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) which deals with the safeguarding of children. This was really rewarding as it made a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children in Devon. I have also worked on developing the software for weddings and ceremonies, which again was very rewarding.
I love the variety of work that I do and the interesting projects I work on. I also love the fact that the work I do makes a real difference to the residents of Devon.
We use the OutSystems platform for software development, which makes work quick and efficient. I was fully trained to use this system when I started.
I started my role during the Covid pandemic and having the technology to work from home has been key to our team’s success. We have access to our own laptop as well as Microsoft Teams and Office 365 which makes working from home much easier.
