The crane jib must be installed at such a height as to be well clear of any adjacent buildings, attachments or wires for all 360 degrees of its travel. The design of the crane base must be designed by a competent person and take into account the particular ground conditions at the site. Calculations and information on ground conditions shall be provided if specifically requested. In the interests of safety, although it is understood that the jib of the crane will oversail the highway, on no account shall any operations be carried out over the public or vehicles on the highway. Where there is to be loading/off-loading to/from the highway, then all traffic management details (such as traffic controls, signing and barriers) and an additional licence under section 171 of the Highways Act 1980 will need to be obtained from the Council’s Licensing Team. If/where building materials are required to be deposited/stored on the highway, an additional licence under section 171 of the Highways Act 1980 will need to be obtained from the council’s licensing team. In the event that signs and barriers are disturbed at any time and the public exposed to danger, as defined for any individual instance by the Council, the council shall require you to attend to the matter immediately. In the event that you do not/cannot comply, the Council shall make such provision as is necessary for the maintenance of public safety and the costs of such shall be reimbursed by yourselves.
