Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) – free webinar

ICAN in partnership with the Bell Foundation are hosting a free webinar on 22 September at 4pm to explore how professionals can support children and young people using English as an Additional Language (EAL) who have Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).


Ventilation and CO2 monitor delivery

On Saturday 21 August it was announced that CO2 monitors will be provided this term to state-funded education settings, including early years, schools and further education providers.


Get a Healthy Start! Goodie box promotion

Do you have families in your setting that are pregnant or have children under 4, and receiving benefits? Would they be interested in a free box of fruit and vegetables delivered directly to your door, along with family friendly recipes to prepare them? If they are eligible for Healthy Start, they can order a box as part of the Get a Healthy Start! initiative. Closing date is 24th September.

Government updates

Spotty Book Update

Public Health England have updated the spotty book (Aug 2021), which now includes a section on Covid-19


Attendance survey data collection update

We have now heard back from the Department of Education (DFE) about the continuation of the Attendance Data Collection.

Close contact of a positive COVID-19 case in all education and childcare sectors

From Monday 16 August unvaccinated young people up to the age of 18 years and 6 months and fully vaccinated adults, are no longer required to self-isolate if they live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19.
