B3184 – road going past Exeter Airport

Devon Highways will be carrying out overnight patching works and bridge joint seal works on the B3184 road past Exeter Airport.

We will be working between Tuesday 1 and Saturday 5 September 2026, from 8pm until 7am.

The highway requires maintenance and these essential repairs will help restore the surface and improve safety.

Where we will be working

We will be working in two sections to grant access to Exeter Airport at all times. The section where the works are taking place will be closed from 8pm to 7am:

  • Tuesday 1 to Wednesday 2 September: From Clyst Honiton Roundabout to the junction with Long Lane.
  • Wednesday 2 to Saturday 5 September: From Long Lane junction to Marwood Lane junction.

Please see the map below showing the two works sections marked in blue and red.

How do we ensure access to the airport?

Access to the airport will be maintained at all times. Gatemen will be on site to assist road users with any access queries. A signed diversion route is in place to guide road users to the opposite end of the works area. Please allow extra travel time if you need to follow the diversion.

During the first night (Tuesday 1–Wednesday 2 September), vehicle drivers will need to approach from the Marwood Lane direction. For the remaining nights (Wednesday 2nd–Saturday 5th September), vehicle drivers will need to approach from the Clyst Honiton Roundabout direction.

Car parks 1, 2, 3 and 4 will remain accessible. Access for emergency vehicles will always be maintained.

The road will be open outside our working hours.

Diversion route

There will be a signed diversion route. Please see below the map showing the diversion route in blue and the works area in red.
