Market Position Statement
Vibrant markets for happy and healthy lives
Our new Market Position Statement (MPS) has been designed to inform and support our adult social care providers to develop their businesses.
It is crucial for the future of health and social care that we work effectively together as a whole system and that we work in partnership with you to improve the services that we commission both now and into the future. The MPS is one tool to help us to achieve this.
The report of the Associate Director of Commissioning (Care and Health) (ACH/20/118) on the Market Position Statement was agreed at Devon County Council’s Cabinet on 15 January 2020.
Market Sufficiency Statement 13 October 2021
Updated Adult Social Care Market Sufficiency Statement 2020 Agreed by Cabinet in September 2020.
The MPS provides a needs, supply and demand assessment, both now and looking to the future and offers an assessment of the changes needed in the market to adapt to changing requirements, as well as highlighting business opportunities.
The MPS should only be seen as an indication of future direction and forms just one element of the research that any provider would undertake to decide upon any future ventures.
The MPS sets out the strategic and financial context for Health and Social Care and links providers to useful information, as follows:
- Introduction
- Executive summary
- Financial context
- Supporting Data (Power BI report)
- Summary of market opportunities
The Market Position Statement describes specific commissioning statements in relation to the following:
- Care homes
- Extra care housing
- Individual purchasing
- Supported Living
- Regulated personal care
- Supporting independence
- Adult carers
- Replacement care
- Technology Enabled Care and Support (TECS)
- Provider Engagement arrangements and equalities
If you have any suggestions about how the MPS could be improved in the future please email us at socialcarebusinessrelations-mailbox@devon.gov.uk
