Roman Topsham

Timeline Roman

KS2: the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain: successful invasion by Claudius and conquest

Before Topsham School was built, archaeologists found the ditches of a Roman fort by carefully excavating the site of the school building.

A booklet describing this and other Roman places in Topsham was produced by Devon County Council and Exeter Archaeology

Archaeologists also found exciting archaeological remains at the site of Clyst Heath School.
