Keeping children safe in education – updated guidance

The Department for Education (DfE) has published updated statutory guidance on safeguarding for schools and colleges in England: Keeping children safe in education – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) (KCSiE)

This will replace the 2022 version of the guidance from 1st September 2023.

Point 3.7 of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) states that childcare providers may find it helpful to refer to this the KCSiE guidance.

Changes include the significance of the Equality Act 2010 as well updates around safer recruitment i.e. CVs only to be used alongside application forms and consideration of online searchers as part of the due diligence checks.

The NSPCC Learning has published a CASPAR briefing summarising updates to the guidance.
