Newton Abbot 20mph speed scheme

In 2019, Devon County Council’s Cabinet approved recommendations to deliver a community-wide 20mph zone in Newton Abbot with the support of the community.

With community support and input, it is hoped that this will reduce congestion, improve air quality, improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users and will encourage active travel.

We intend to engage with residents to ensure our proposals are right for their community.

If progressed, the new scheme will be monitored and used to inform the County Council’s future speed limit policy.

We are working in partnership with Newton Abbot Town Council, Devon’s Public Health team, the Police Road Casualty Reduction and Traffic Management Team, Teignbridge District Council and local stakeholders to deliver the scheme.
