Before you start
Directional signs for housing developments are intended to help drivers find a development safely and are not advertising signs.
Permission is not automatic. Applications are assessed on traffic management and highway safety grounds and will only be approved where the Highway Authority considers directional signing to be justified.
An application covers up to six signs. Please read the guidance and terms and conditions before submitting your application.
Ensure that you have:
- Read the terms and conditions.
- Confirmed that the location/s is on highway maintained at public expense.
- The applicant’s details.
- The developer’s details.
- The development name, location and size.
- The number of signs.
- The proposed installation date.
- Details of the signage contractor.
- A location plan showing each proposed sign location, sign dimensions and fixing details.
- The original reference number (starting with ENQ) if you are renewaing an exising application.
Payment
A payment link will be sent following receipt of your application. This will usually take place within 24 hours/1 working day. We will not begin processing your application until payment has been received.
What happens next?
Once we have received confirmation of your payment, we will process your application.
