Exeter College – Personal Assistants and Unpaid Carers Training

We are excited to be able to offer FREE bespoke training for Personal Assistants and unpaid carers within Devon available through the Health and Social Care Skills Accelerator Programme, which is part funded by the European Social Fund (ESF). This bespoke package covers high risk practices within caring roles to support the development of safe working practices and meet legislative requirements.

Manual handling and basic life support.

  • This training builds confidence and skills to provide the most effective and safe care, reducing the risks to self and others when handling and moving people and providing basic life support.
  • Face-to-face training delivered by a qualified trainer in our state of-the-art hospital suite.

Food safety and hygiene award.

  • This training introduces you to the importance of food safety when supporting vulnerable people and how you can reduce risks through use of safe practices when preparing, storing, and handling food.
  • eLearning – provides you with the course content via email and to be completed independently. Assessment – completed during a 1.5-hour face to face session.

Fully Funded eLearning Courses for PA’s Grey Matter Learning logo

Devon County Council has partnered with Grey Matter Learning to trial offering fully funded social care courses for all providers and PA’s working in Devon for one year. There is over 100 different eLearning courses to access from the Care Certificate, safeguarding to mental health awareness. We have created a helpful user guide with information on how to get started, recommended training and how to get the most out of Grey Matter Learning.

How to access the platform

To sign up for an account, all providers, personal assistants and personal budget holders please contact the Grey Matter Learning team. Select access training and then complete the contact us page that you would like an account under the Devon County Council funding. The team will be in touch with you to set up your account.

The Health and Social Care Skills Accelerator Programme

Part funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).

 

The Health and Social Care Skills Accelerator Programme (HSSAP) provides fully funded training to support and develop people in a caring role, whether caring for a relative or family member or in a paid capacity. From short workshops to qualifications, face to face training, or online learning there is something for everyone. These courses are designed to give you knowledge, skills and confidence to support you in your role.

The courses are delivered by Learn Devon and colleges across Devon, Plymouth and Torbay; they have friendly and knowledgeable teams who can provide you with information and guidance about what course might be right for you. Click on a college link below to find out more.
