Wellbeing Buddy training from the Devon Wellbeing Hub
Are you interested in improving staff health and wellbeing in your organisation?
The Devon Wellbeing Hub are pleased to offer a one-day course to train colleagues to become Wellbeing Buddies.
What are Wellbeing Buddies?
Wellbeing Buddies (also known as Wellbeing Champions) support the wellbeing of colleagues within their organisation.
They are not expected to provide clinical advice – instead their role is to have compassionate conversations, actively listen and signpost to further support.
What does the training involve?
Our one-day training session, led by our Colleague Wellbeing Practitioners, explores a number of topics, including:
- The role of a Wellbeing Buddy
- Effective wellbeing conversations
- Supporting your own wellbeing
- Active listening
- Signposting and handling difficult situations
How do I sign up?
If you are a manager and are interested in running a Wellbeing Buddy training session for your organisation, please contact dpt.devonwellbeing@nhs.net with the following information:
- Who will be your key contact? It’s important we know who to liaise with as it will be the organisations responsibility to send invites and follow up information to colleagues.
- How many colleagues would like to take part?
- When would you like the training to take place?
- What wellbeing support do you currently have in place in your organisation? E.g. Employee Assistance Programmes/Occupational Health
- How are you planning to support your Wellbeing Buddies (e.g. what supervision will be provided?)
Virtual Workshops
The Wellbeing Hub also offer virtual workshops free for individuals working in healthcare, social care and the police across Devon. They have lots of sessions on offer, including ‘Managing Imposter Syndrome’, ‘Asserting Healthy Boundaries’ and ‘Introducing Mindfulness’. To sign up, please visit the Eventbrite page.
HOPE (Help Overcome Problems Effectively)
This is aimed at staff who are perhaps feeling anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, low in mood or who are just that they would like some time to focus on their own mental health and wellbeing. Online versions of the programme are either a self-paced Digital HOPE course, virtual HOPE course live on Microsoft Teams or Face to Face HOPE delivered in person in community venues across Devon. For more information and to register.
