Connect to Work – Helping You Get Into and Stay in Employment

Connect to Work is a new, voluntary supported employment programme designed to help disabled people, those with health conditions, and individuals facing complex barriers to employment find and stay in meaningful work.

What Is Connect to Work?

Connect to Work is part of the national Get Britain Working strategy, which aims to reform employment, health and skills support across England and Wales. The programme is free to join and offers personalised support to help you overcome challenges and achieve your career goals.

Who Is It For?

You can take part in Connect to Work if you:

  • Are disabled
  • Have a physical or mental health condition
  • Are experiencing other barriers to employment (such as caring responsibilities)

What Support Is Available?

Participants in Connect to Work will be matched with a dedicated specialist employment practitioner who will:

  • Work closely with them to understand their career goals
  • Help identify and overcome any barriers to employment
  • Job matching and supporting direct conversations with prospective employers
  • Ensure a smooth transition into work and promote inclusive workplace practices

Where Is It Available?

In the Devon, Plymouth and Torbay area, the programme is being delivered by:

  • Devon County Council (Lead Authority)
  • In partnership with Plymouth City Council and Torbay Council

When Does It Start?

The Connect to Work service in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay is expected to open for participants in Plymouth in November 2025, followed by Devon and Torbay in December 2025. More details, including how to sign up, will be updated on this page
