Bat Walk
Date: Friday 15 May 2026
Time: meet at 8:50pm for a 9:00pm start
Join us for a magical twilight Bat Walk and discover the wonderful wildlife that comes alive along the Grand Western Canal after dark. Led by our Ranger team, this gentle 1½‑mile towpath walk takes around 1.5 hours and offers a fantastic opportunity to learn about bats and observe them in their natural habitat.
Please bring: a torch and warm clothing.
Please note:
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- No dogs
- Not suitable for children under 5
Summer Holidays – Wild Wednesdays
Dates: To be confirmed
10am – 12noon & 1:30pm – 3:30pm
Come along and join in with our Wild Wednesday activity sessions and learn all about the different types of wildlife that live on our waterways.

Arrive at the canal basin car park. Walk up the slope by the toilet block and turn right towards the road. Follow the path around the end of the canal past the play area, through the wooden gate and towards the cream building on the other side of the canal – the Ranger’s Office.

Why not join our growing army of conservation volunteers on the second Sunday of every month between October and March. Tasks are varied and all tools are provided. No special skills are needed – just bring along lunch and old clothes.

Join Rangers at the Grand Western Canal to make a Christmas wreaths using natural materials from the Country Park.
