The Ranger Service organises a series of events each year. Here are what events we have coming up at the Grand Western Canal in the coming months:

DECEMBER

CHRISTMAS WREATH WORKSHOP
Date: To be confirmed (The event will either be – Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th or Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th)
10am – 12noon & 1pm – 3pm
Join Canal Rangers for a festive treat and make a beautiful Christmas wreath to hang on your door
Meet:  Rangers Office, Canal Hill, Tiverton
Booking: Essential
Cost: £5 per person

Bird Box Day
Wednesday 20th February 2019
10am – 12noon & 1pm – 3pm

Families can get creative this half term at the Grand Western Canal Country Park by making their own bird box to take home with guidance from the Canal Rangers!
Cost: £5 per box

Walk & Talk
Wednesday 20th March 2019

Enjoy a guided walk along the Grand Western Canal and in the surrounding countryside. These walks are part of Tiverton Walk & Talk scheme. Walks are held weekly at a variety of locations so please see the programme for more details.

MAY

Bat Walk
Friday 10th May 2019
8:30pm
Discover what bats live at the canal by joining Rangers on our Bat walk and have a go at using the bat detectors to identify local species. Starting in Tiverton, this 1½ mile walk along the towpath will take approximately 2 hours.

• Please bring a torch and warm clothing.
• Sorry no dogs or children under 5.
• All children should be accompanied by an adult.

Walk & Talk
Wednesday 15th May 2019

Help us celebrate National Walking Month, and join Rangers for a mid-week stroll along the Grand Western Canal and in the surrounding countryside. These walks are part of Tiverton Walk & Talk scheme. Walks are held weekly at a variety of locations so please see the programme for more details.

AUGUST

Wild Wednesdays
Every Wednesday throughout August between 10am – 12noon and 1pm – 3pm Rangers will be running a series of children’s activities throughout the summer holidays.

Discover what creatures are lurking in the murky depths.
Cost: £3 per child

 

 

Pirate Crafts
Wednesday 21st August
Ahoy me hearties! Come along and see what treasures we have for you to make using nature materials from the Country Park, including leafy pirate hats and stick ships.Cost: £3 per child

Fairies & Butterflies
Wednesday 28th August
Get all creative and make some enchanted crafts, like sun catchers, mosaics, bracelets and wands. Cost: £3 per child
