  • Safeguarding training and network changes from September 2026

    Following the September 2026 EYFS safeguarding updates and the launch of the Department for Education’s new Safeguarding Children and Babies in Early Years Settings eLearning course, Devon Early Years and Childcare Service has reviewed its safeguarding training offer to ensure it meets the requirements of EYFS Annex C.

  • Upcoming local area SEND inspection – important information for schools and settings

    Devon is due a full Local Area SEND inspection during the autumn term. To support schools and settings in understanding the Local Area SEND inspection process, please see the briefing delivered in July by a former SEND inspector. The briefing provides a helpful overview of the inspection framework, key areas of focus and how schools and settings may be involved during an inspection.

  • Health update: infection prevention and illness prevention in nurseries

    Summer can feel like a break from bugs, but this year the UK Health Security Agency reports in some areas there has been an increase in viral illnesses spreading within childcare settings. The best way to stop infections spreading is by consistently following everyday infection prevention measures.

  • Paediatric first aid training – price increase

    As of 1 September 2026 the Paediatric first aid training has increased in cost from £80 to £85pp. Those who have already booked before 1st September will be charged the £80 rate. Please see the latest training dates.
