Free event: missing children and child exploitation – book now!
Devon Safeguarding Children Partnership (DSCP) are holding a series of multi-agency Best Practice Events during October 2026, focused on missing children and child exploitation. These in-person events will provide a practical opportunity for colleagues across the partnership to consider what we notice, what we ask and, importantly, how we act together when there are early signs that a child or young person may be at risk.
Seeing the Signs, Hearing the Voice, Disrupting the Harm – “Children tell us earlier than we think”

- 20 October, Exeter
Time:10.30am to 4pm (Registration and refreshments from 10am)
Who is it for?
The event is aimed at front-line practitioners and team managers from all agencies working with children, young people and families. It is intended to be a practical, multi-agency day, giving colleagues the opportunity to learn from one another and consider how the learning translates into everyday practice.
Learning Outcomes:
- Recognise early signs of vulnerability, including school disengagement and missing episodes, and understand how to respond before concerns escalate.
- Understand how intelligence, hotspots, peer contexts and disruption activity can help identify and reduce harm.
- Identify practical actions that can be applied within your own role and contribute to our shared responsibility for protecting children from harm.
- Place children’s lived experience and voice at the heart of safeguarding practice.
- Apply professional curiosity to better understand what may be happening in a child’s life.
- Understand the importance of timely information sharing and joining up information held across agencies to build a fuller picture of risk.
- Strengthen current practice and improve multi-agency responses.
