Welcome

As the largest local authority in the southwest of England, Devon County Council plays an important role in the communities and lives of local people. We want you to make an impact where it matters the most. We work together to improve life across Devon. We want to create a place that people enjoy living in, as well as a place that you enjoy working. You’ll see the impact you’re making, whether your work in social care, education, children’s services, public health, corporate services, HR, legal, communications, roads and transport or waste and recycling.

One of the best things about working for Devon is the opportunity to work and make a difference to one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Devon is one of the largest counties in the UK, and the only one to have two coastlines. It has a wonderful variety of landscapes and activities to enjoy and has good transport links to the rest of the country.

By working for Devon, you will be supported to make a real difference to this beautiful and vibrant county. Without the staff at Devon County Council, we would not be able to build our strong, resilient communities, look after the beautiful landscapes or provide first class education to the thousands of children in the county.

Our Values

The core principles and behaviours have been specifically designed to unlock potential of individuals, teams, and the organisation. Principles outline what is expected from the way we work to give us greater clarity, purpose, and learning.

Behaviours are how we approach our work and interact with others in terms of qualities expectations and measures. They are a fundamental part of our overall approach to becoming a learning organisation; committed to continually evolving, adapting and transforming so that we can deliver the best possible services for the people and communities of Devon.
