Lee’s highlight of his time in EDG so far:
Roundswell Pedestrian Footbridge, Barnstaple
“I was lucky enough to be on the project team that was involved in this scheme from its early planning
phase right through to completion. The scheme was to procure and project manage a design
and build NEC contract for the construction of a footbridge across the A39 in Barnstaple.
I worked with an Engineer to produce the contract drawings and pricing schedule for the Tender
process to enable the scheme to be procured and appoint a contractor. I also worked with the engineer
to develop planning drawings and statements to attain planning consent.
Once a contractor was appointed and the design accepted, the construction works were undertaken
and I was part of the site team that managed and supervised the construction phase. It was a really
interesting project with lots of problem solving and team work.
I learnt a lot about bridge detailing and contract management. This really helped me to progress in
my career, and gave me the experiences and opportunities I needed to develop.”
