The Mindful Employer, Charter for Employers Positive About Mental Health is our commitment to support the mental health and wellbeing of our staff by agreeing to uphold the following values: 

  • To provide non-judgemental and proactive support to staff with experience of mental ill-health. 
  • To avoid making assumptions about a person with a mental health condition and their ability to work. 
  • To be positive and enabling towards all employees and applicants with a mental health condition. 
  • To support line managers in managing mental health in the workplace. 
  • To ensure fair recruitment of staff in accordance with the Equality Act (2010). 
  • To make it clear that people who have experience of mental ill-health will not be discriminated against.

Armed Forces Covenant

We are continuing our pledge to support the Armed Forces Community through the Armed Forces Covenant, showing our commitment to those serving, their families and those who have transitioned to civilian life.

This includes support for employees who have partners on deployment and in terms of employment with us, we will actively recruit from this community, provide support through the recruitment process and continued support for continued learning and wellbeing during employment.

Menopause at Work

We have signed the Wellbeing of Women Menopause Workplace Pledge, demonstrating our commitment to supporting colleagues going through the menopause. By taking this important step, we are creating a more open, inclusive, and supportive environment where employees feel comfortable talking about menopause and can access the help they need.

This includes awareness and wellbeing resources, flexible support, and a culture that recognises and respects the impact menopause can have. 

Age-friendly Employer

Devon County Council have signed the Age-friendly Employer Pledge in recognition of the importance and value of an older workforce. By signing up to this Pledge, we are committed to improving work for people in their 50s and 60s (and beyond) and will support employees to flourish in a multigenerational workforce through identifying and progressing opportunities for age-inclusion.
