Job title: Recruitment Coordinator

Area of work: People and Culture

What is your job role and what department/service area do you work in?

I work as a Recruitment Coordinator in our Temp Solutions department in our People and Culture Directorate!

What are your role responsibilities?

We recruit temporary workers in a variety of different job roles throughout Devon County Council.

What apprenticeship are you/have you completed and what did your training look like? i.e., weekly training on the training providers site, block release, remote learning..

I am currently working towards my apprenticeship (Level 3 HR Support) through Exeter College, I attend the Future Skills Centre every Tuesday, this is a great way to get to know other students and you build a great relationship with your college tutor!

What have been the benefits to being an apprentice?

I have been able to widen my knowledge within HR and get familiar with different departments whilst building my ‘Off the Job’ hours for my apprenticeship. Once I have completed my apprenticeship I will have my CIPD qualification and also a Level 3 apprenticeship, this will be great for career development! You also learn about other students experiences with HR and how different companies and organisations can operate.

Why did you choose to become an apprentice at Devon County Council?

An apprenticeship really appealed to me for my own development and my career development, I only started my role with DCC in January 2024 in HR so I am learning a lot and my apprenticeship helps me to understand all areas of HR rather than just the area you are working in!

Do you have any tips for anyone looking to apply for an apprenticeship?

I would 100% recommend doing an apprenticeship to anyone who is interested, I have found DCC to be very supportive and give you the relevant time you need to complete your work / assignments. It is a great opportunity to learn and put to practice the skills you learn at college in your day to day role!
