Working as a Community Health Worker
Our Community Health Workers are qualified and skilled to support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, predominantly supporting families with children from 0-8 years. They work under the supervision of our Health Visitor’s, School Nurses and Staff Nurses to support the whole family assessment, working with partner colleagues where appropriate.
Their role involves providing supportive and preventative health advice to families as well as working with them to identify if their children require additional support, such as meeting their developmental milestones and optimal potential. They also support parents with behaviour management, toilet training, sleep management and targeted episodes of care as directed.
They promote the protection of children, adhering to the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board policies and procedures.
